The Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels and the Wilson Phoenix finished in a 2–2 draw on Wednesday night. Mary Baldwin dominated offensively with a 20–8 shot advantage, but Wilson's goalkeeper came up big to stop several dangerous chances.
Freshman
Joelle Hare wasted no time putting the Squirrels ahead, scoring in just the 4th minute to give her team early momentum.
After Wilson tied the game moments into the second half, fellow freshman
Addison Hannigan answered in the 59th minute, restoring Mary Baldwin's lead. Despite a late equalizer from Wilson's Halley Shaffer in the 79th minute, the Squirrels continued to press for a winner until the final whistle.
The result extends Mary Baldwin's four-game win streak, which they will look to carry forward when they face William Peace University on Saturday, September 20, at 6:00 p.m.
