Raymond Benton and junior
Corey Easton were named to the USA South men's basketball all-conference teams for the 2025-26 season.
Benton earned second-team all-conference honors for his performance this season. The Ashland, Virginia, native totaled 319 points and 162 rebounds, the fourth-most rebounds in program history. He finished his career with 577 points as a member of the Fighting Squirrels.
Benton said his faith helped carry him through a season of ups and downs.
"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here I am. Send me,'" (Isaiah 6:8). "I faced a lot of adversity from the beginning of the season to the end — injuries, setbacks and struggles with confidence. Before every game, and really before anything I do, I remind myself that God doesn't want your performance; He wants your heart. That verse helped me realize He's willing to send me through anything because He knows I'm one of His toughest," Benton said.
Easton was named to the USA South Sportsmanship Team. "Corey has been a great addition to MBU Men's Basketball over the past year" said head coach Daniel Eacho. "He consistently exhibits the pillars of our program and is a great ambassador of MBU Men's Basketball on and off the court. This is well deserved."
