Mary Baldwin softball fell short in both games of a doubleheader against Guilford College on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Squirrels dropped the opener 2-0 before falling 11-5 to the Quakers in Game 2.
Game 1
The first game proved to be a defensive battle as Guilford took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and held it until the final frame.

Kendal Switala fielded a ground ball and threw home to record the out, keeping the score at 1-0.
Guilford added an insurance run midway through the final inning when Kaylee Harris singled to right field to score Kaylyn Little.
Sophomore
Taylor Shreck pitched five innings, recording seven flyouts and five groundouts.
Game 2
In the second game, Guilford's bats came alive with two home runs to help fuel the victory.
Little opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning. Shiloh Gray followed with a solo home run in the third inning as Guilford built an early 4-1 lead.
Mary Baldwin responded as freshman
Emma Morris hit a two-run home run to left field, cutting the Quakers' lead to 6-3.
The Fighting Squirrels had a strong sixth inning at the plate, loading the bases to set up a pinch-hit opportunity for senior
