Camden Bauswell added a third run by scoring on a wild pitch.
Mary Baldwin's bats went quiet until Methodist tied the game in the eighth inning. Brandon Mauger singled to left-center field, driving in the tying run.
In the 10th inning, with two outs, Bauswell stepped up and delivered an RBI double to score the go-ahead run. The Fighting Squirrels' defense held in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.
Game 2
Mary Baldwin again scored first in Game two, but Methodist responded in the fifth inning.
With the bases loaded, Blake Freeman hit a double to center field, driving in three runs to give the Monarchs a 4-1 lead.
Methodist extended its lead to five runs with a strong seventh inning. The Fighting Squirrels scored two runs in the ninth, but the rally fell short.
