Fighting Squirrels fall to Bridgewater, 7-0, in season opener

Mary Baldwin men's soccer opened the 2026 season on the road with a 7-0 loss to Bridgewater College.

The Eagles got on the scoreboard early, scoring their first goal within the first six minutes of the match. Bridgewater added three more goals before halftime. Trey Widrick and Riley Queen each scored twice to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead heading into the second half.

Bridgewater's Joshua Parker added a goal one minute into the second half. Two more goals in the 82nd and 83rd minutes sealed the win for Bridgewater.

The Fighting Squirrels will look to bounce back when they take on Bob Jones University on Monday, Sept. 7, for their home opener. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
