Fighting Squirrels fall to Bridgewater, 6-1, in home opener

Mary Baldwin women's soccer and new head coach Lionel Karyea made their 2026 debut at home Tuesday against Bridgewater College, falling 6-1.

The Eagles' offense got off to a hot start, scoring three goals in the first half. Cassandra Villafan led the way with two goals. Bridgewater was aggressive throughout the opening half, attempting 13 shots compared with just two from the Fighting Squirrels.

Mary Baldwin continued to fight until the final whistle. With the Fighting Squirrels trailing 6-0, sophomore Molly Ludwig scored in the 79th minute, recording her 12th career goal as a Fighting Squirrel.

Mary Baldwin will head to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, on Monday, Sept. 7, to take on Wilson College. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
