The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2023-24 All-Conference awards for men's basketball Individually, Greensboro's Matthew Brown was named Player of the Year while William Peace's Ryan Lominack grabbed Rookie of the Year honors. Continuing with the individual honors, Pfeiffer's Doug Smith was named Defensive Player of the Year while Mary Baldwin's
Matt Griggs earned Coach of the Year accolades. Additionally, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school who their coach felt displayed the best sportsmanship this season.
Mary Baldwin University received three All-Conference players as well as our All-Sportsmanship player.
#2 Luke Ogle - First Team All-Conference
Playing for 762 minutes across 26 games played, Ogle averaged 9.5 points per game with a total of 91 field goals. Ogle's rebounding skills really aided the team this year as he placed 8th in the USA South Athletic Conference with a total of 174 rebounds with 30 on offense and a stellar 144 on defense. Not only that, but Ogle also placed second this year in blocked shots with 46 across the regular season as well as accumulating 34 steals, ranking him in the 8th spot. Finishing it off, he also had finished 9th in the amount of minutes played by all teams.
#5 Quentin Hart - Second Team All-Conference
Playing for 733 minutes across 26 games, Hart placed 14th in the USA South Athletic Conference with a total of 283 points while averaging 10.9 a game. Hart's ability to sink the long ball ended with him finishing 6th in the conference in 3-pt Field Goal Percentage at .358. He also finished 3rd in 3-pt field goals per game with 1.9 on average. Hart also finished 25th in steals for the conference with 22 throughout the course of the season.
#15 Vernon Fraley - Second Team All-Conference
Playing for 661 minutes this season across 25 games this season, Fraley finished 12th in scoring this season with 276 points and averaging 11 points per game. Finishing just behind teammate
Luke Ogle, Fraley finished 9th this season in rebounds with a total of 156. Fraley shined with his shooting capabilities as he finished with having Mary Baldwin best Field Goal Percentage at .477. He also finished 19th in 3-pt field goals per game. Lastly, Fraley finished 19th in the conference with 9 total blocked shots.
#35 Diego Lemus - All-Sportsmanship
Lemus made the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. Being a three-year veteran for Mary Baldwin's Men's Basketball program, Lemus made several spot appearances throughout the season.
