Box Score Staunton, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team opened
the second half of the season tonight hosting USA South Conference
rival Shenandoah University at home. At the end of the first
half, the Hornets held a slight 31-30 edge as both teams shot close
to 35% from the floor.
That all changed in the second half as the Hornets built a nine
point lead with less than three minutes into the final period.
The visitors never looked back as they steadily increased
their lead throughout the final 20 minutes with a very balanced
scoring attack.
Sophomore Shanice Miles had an excellent shooting night for the
Fighting Squirrels sinking 5 of her 10 attempts from behind the arc
and finishing with 18 points. Senior Captain Sabrina Desper added a
"double-double" scoring 11 points while pulling down 15
rebounds.
The Fighting Squirrels will be back in action at home this
weekend hosting Peace College on Saturday and Methodist University
on Sunday as they continue to look for their first conference
win.
