Box Score LaGRANGE, Ga – Behind three first half goals, the Mary Baldwin University men's soccer team claimed a 4-0 win against LaGrange College in USA South action on Saturday afternoon.
The victory puts the Fighting Squirrels at 7-7 on the year with a 4-5 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Panthers sit at 4-8-1 overall behind a 3-6-1 record in conference match ups.
Carr Panetta scored the first goal of the game just one minute into the contest before notching a second tally barely two minutes later as MBU quickly took a 2-0 lead. The two goals held until Alexis Barba notched his first goal of the year at the 36:49 mark to put the Fighting Squirrels up 3-0 at the break.
In the second half, Marcos Sasia added an insurance goal with an assist from Juan Mejia in the 76th minute as MBU walked away with the 4-0 win.
The Panthers held a 23-20 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Obdulio Argueta made six saves in all 90 minutes, while Gian Dev made four stops in the loss.
The Fighting Squirrels are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 13 at Huntingdon at 2 pm.
