Box Score 2 The Mary Baldwin baseball team fell in both games of a doubleheader at Pfeiffer on Sunday afternoon.
In game one, Mary Baldwin (1-16, 1-12 USA South) got an early 1-0 lead after Dylan Rankin reached on a fielder's choice that scored Michael Robertson.
Pfeiffer (12-9, 8-5 USA South) controlled a 6-1 lead after five innings.
In the sixth, Jared Mayhew hit a single that scored Noah Kessler. Rankin then scored on a passed ball to cut the deficit to three.
The Falcons followed that with three more runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
In the seventh, a two-run home run by Michael Robertson made it a 9-5 game.
Pfeiffer then put up 10 runs in the bottom of the seventh as they took a 19-5 win.
In the first inning of game two, an RBI single by Rankin and a two-RBI single by Colby Cheatham helped MBU jump out to a 3-0 lead.
The Falcons then got on the board in the bottom half of the first.
An RBI double by Mayhew gave the Fighting Squirrels a 4-1 lead in the third.
Pfeiffer then answered back with nine runs over the next four innings.
In the eighth, a single by Ty Webster made it a 10-5 game.
The Fighting Squirrels head back to Greensboro on Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. game.
