Box Score 2 The Mary Baldwin baseball team fell to #12 North Carolina Wesleyan in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Mary Baldwin honored their lone senior, Mac McClintock, in between games.
N.C. Wesleyan put up 13 runs in the first four innings to take an early advantage in game one.
In the bottom of the fourth, Colby Cheatham hit an RBI double to get MBU on the board.
The Battling Bishops then put up three more runs in the sixth for a 16-1 win.
N.C. Wesleyan began game two with pair of runs in the top of the first. MBU responded in the bottom half with a single by Dylan Rankin that scored Michael Robertson. The Fighting Squirrels then tied the game when Noah Kessler scored on a double play ball.
Trailing 8-2 in the eighth, a sacrifice fly by Jacob Cude would score Rankin from third. Jared Mayhew then hit a two-RBI single to cut the lead to three.
The Battling Bishops put up one more in the top of ninth it to make 9-5.
MBU had some solid relief efforts on the mound. Teddy Coates pitched 1.1 innings giving up no hits in no earned runs, while Dylan Weatherly pitched one inning giving up one run on two hits.
The Fighting Squirrels are back in action at Pfeiffer on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m.
