Box Score CARY, ,N.C. - Mary Baldwin scored three runs in the seventh inning Sunday afternoon, but the rally came up just short as William Peace held on for an 8-6 victory.
Mary Baldwin loeaded the bases in the first on walks to Gavin Rush, Michael Robertson and Dylan Rankin. The Squirrels scored on a groundout by Colby Cheatham to lead 1-0.
William Peace tied the score with a run in the second inning and then the teams traded runs in the third inning.
The Squirrels loaded the sacks in the third on a single by Rush and walks to Tucker Hensley and Rankin. Cheatham walked to force in a run and Jared Mayhew singled to score a run, giving MBU a 3-1 lead.
After the Pacers tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the third, the home team added four runs in the fourth to open up a 7-3 advantage.
With the Pacers leading 8-3, the Squirrels rallied iwth three runs in the top of the seventh. Blake French walked before singles by Jacob Cude and Rush loeaded the bases. Robertson was hit by a pitch to force home a run and two more runs scored on a throwing error on a ground ball hit by Hensley.
