Box Score Greensboro College used two big innings Sunday afternoon to defeat Mary Baldwin 18-8 and win the rubber game of the three-game series.
Mary Baldwin took a 1-0 lead on Tucker Hensley's RBI-single in the third, but Greensboro scored four runs in the fourth inning to lead 4-1.
The Squirrels scored two runs in the fifth to make it a one-run game. MBU loaded the bases with no outs and one run scored on a double play ball. Tyler Smith drove in the second run of the innng with a double to close the deficit to 4-3.
The Pride then scored seven times in the sixth inning to take control with an 11-3 lead.
Mary Baldwin made one more run at the visitors with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Consecutive RBI-singles by Colby Cheatham, Dylan Rankin and Michael Barber pulled the Eagles to within 11-6. Another run scored on Blake French's ground ball that was misplayed for an error and Noah Kessler plated a run with a sacrifice fly, making the score 11-8.
Greensboro then responded with another seven-run outburst in the top fo the ninth to put the game away, 18-8.
Hensley was 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the MBU offense while teammates Kessler, Cheatham and Rankin each added two base hits.
