Box Score 2 ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Mary Baldwin baseball team dropped both ends of Sunday's doubleheader at N.C. Wesleyan, losing the opener 17-8 and falling in Game 2, 13-2.
The Mary Baldwin offense struggled to get the bats going Sunday, finishing with a total of just nine hits in the two games.
The Bishops jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opener before the Squirrels cut the margin in half with two runs in the third inning. Lucas Chinault led off the inning with a single and later scored on Michael Robertson's sacrifice fly to put the Squirrels on the board.
The Bishops answered with eight runs in the bottom of the third to lead 12-2, but MBU fought back with five runs in the top of the fourth. The Squirrels loaded the bases on a one-out single by Dylan Rankin and two-out walks to Chinault and Michael Barber. Noah Kessler was hit by a pitch to score one run and Robertson walked to plate the second run of the inning. Tucker Hensley cleared the bases with a triple, pulling the Squirrels to within 12-7.
Hensley drove in four runs in the first game and Robertson had two RBIs.
In the second game, Roberston, Rankin, Owen Marshall and Tyler Morley each had one hit in the 13-2 loss.
