Box Score 2 STAUNTON, Va - - Mary Baldwin dropped both ends of a twinbill Sunday to William Peace, losing the opener 16-3 and the second game 10-8.
Mary Baldwin took the lead in the first game on Tyler Morley's run-scoring single in the first, but the Pacers took the lead with two runs in the top of hte second.
William Peace stretched the lead to 8-1 before MBU scored twice in the fifth on Josh Lallo's two-run homer. The Pacers added eight runs over the next three innings to pull away.
MBU had wight hits in the opener, two each by Lallo and Michael Robertson.
The Pacers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first to start the second game and two more runs in the top of the fourth made it 7-0. The Squirrels then stormed back into contention with five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Lallo led off with a homer and, after a walk to Dylan Rankin, Morley homered to make it 7-3. Noah Kessler drove in a run with a single and another run scored on a wild pitch as the gap closed to 7-5.
MBU leaded the sacks in the fifth and a sac fly by Kessler made it a one-run game 7-6.
Three runs in the top of the eighth put the Pacers up 10-6, but the Squirrels battled back with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Morley drove in a run with a single and Robertson later scored on a wild pitch to ull MBU to within 10-8.
Robertson singled in the ninth to get the tying run to the plate, but the Squirrels were unable to complete the comebach, falling 10-8.
Lallo and Morley each had two hits in the second game.
Mary Baldwin is back in action Wednesday with a non-conference game at Ferrum.
