Mary Baldwin's softball team, preparing for its third-straight appearance in the USA South playoffs, placed three players on the 2025 conference all-star team, including senior catcher/DP
Hadley May, who earned post-season recognition for the fourth-straight year.
Joining May on the all-conference team are second-team honorees
McKenzie Tillman and
Emily Hall. Tillman played third base, first base and pitcher this season and was chosen by the USA South coaches as a utility player while Hall, a catcher/DP, gained all-star recognition as a designated player.
May, a four-year starter for the Fighting Squirrels, is the first MBU player to earn first team All-USA South since the Fighting Squirrels joined the conference in 2008. This season, May leads MBU with a .459 batting average, 11 home runs, 21 extra base hits, 50 RBI, 27 walks and she's among the NCAA Division III leaders in several categories. May is the MBU record-holder in home runs (36), RBI (136) in a career, home runs in a season (12, set in 2024).
Tillman is in her second season at MBU and first year as a full-time starter. She hit .366 with 10 doubles, two homers, 13 walks, 15 runs scored and 31 RBI. In the circle, she was 4-5 in 15 appearances with a 4.03 ERA. Tillman has a .366 two-year batting average.
Hall is a four-year member of the Fighting Squirrels and emerged as one of the team's top hitters this season, boasting a .330 batting average with seven doubles, three homers, 16 runs scored and 11 RBI. For her career, Hall appeared in 104 games as a catcher, DH and pinch hitter, compiling a .308 batting average with 25 extra base hits, including 21 doubles, a triple and three homers, 40 runs scored and 46 RBI.

Madison Dinnella was also recognized by the conference on the all-sportsmanship team. Â
The Fighting Squirrels, who tied the team record for most wins in a season (22, originally set in 2004) will face Meredith College Thursday (approx. 1:30 p.m. starting time) in the opening round of the double-elimination championship tournament. Win or lose, MBU will play again Friday against either host Pfeiffer or William Peace (time TBA).
