The Mary Baldwin track and field team traveled to Bridgewater College for the Doc Jopson Invitational this weekend.
In the women's 1500 meters, sophomore
Rowan Downer was the lone Fighting Squirrel competitor, finishing in the top 20 with a time of 5:48.66.
In the men's 1500, junior
Caleb Smith led the way for Mary Baldwin, placing in the top 10 with a time of 4:25.28. His mark was the fastest among USA South competitors. Junior
Daniel Diaczyszyn also competed, finishing in 4:59.68.
In the men's 100-meter dash preliminaries, sophomore
Lapatrick Bridges finished in the top 20 with a time of 11.61, the fastest among USA South participants. Bridges also competed in the 200, posting a season-best time of 23.23. Senior
Raymond Benton also ran the event, finishing 30th.
In the men's triple jump, sophomore
Kadin Pittman recorded a mark of 11.81 meters. Pittman also competed in the long jump, posting a season-best 5.75 meters.
Benton joined Pittman in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.12 meters to place in the top 10. His jump ranks among the top 10 in the conference this season, according to TFRRS.org.
In the men's javelin, senior
David Schultz recorded a throw of 39.23 meters, finishing in the top 10. His mark was the best among USA South competitors in the event. Fellow senior
Brandon Jones also competed, finishing just outside the top 15.
Mary Baldwin Track and Field will continue their outdoor season, Saturday April 4 as they travel to Emory and Henry University for the Blue and Gold invitational.
