Anne Talbott Jordan was a three-sport athlete at Mary Baldwin, with volleyball, basketball and tennis programs in their varsity infancy.  She was a top player in volleyball and basketball, but it was with the tennis program where she made her mark under coaches Mary Jane Donnalley and Lois Blackburn Bryan.
Anne Talbott Jordan, who goes by Talbott, enrolled at Mary Baldwin College in the fall of 1968, already ranked the No. 1 in singles player in Virginia in the 18 and under ("juniors") category. The ranking body was the Mid-Atlantic Lawn Tennis Association ("MALTA"), later known as the Mid-Atlantic Tennis Association ("MATA").
Talbott was a three sport athlete in college, representing MBC in varsity tennis and basketball, and also playing volleyball.

Talbott was a 4-year member of an MBC East Coast powerhouse tennis team coached by Mary Jane Donnalley her freshman year and by Lois Blackburn Bryan thereafter. The team went undefeated in dual matches throughout her collegiate career (academic years 1969-72). A versatile player, Talbott was skilled in both singles and doubles; however, she often competed for MBC in tournament doubles because in her words, "I could volley."  Dual competitions against one school consisted of a format of 6 singles matches and 3 doubles matches, with players permitted to compete in both singles and doubles. However, in most tournament competitions, a school typically entered 3 singles players and 2 doubles teams – with no overlapping players. Talbott's selfless nature was at the forefront, as she suggested that her coaches play her wherever it would best help the team.

During her senior year, Coach Blackburn Bryan insisted that she play singles in the State Collegiate Women's Tournament because it was Talbott's final year. Talbott won the championship, upsetting the top seeds, including her MBC teammate, Mary Hotchkiss Leavell, in straight sets 7-6 (4-1), 6-2.

According to The Daily Press article "Talbott Jordan Upsets Mary Hotchkiss As Mary Baldwin Wins State Net Title,  Talbott gained the advantage by making "strong placements at the net." Talbott won numerous tournaments and dual matches, including the Easter Collegiate Tennis Tournament doubles title with Mary Tompkins, and the Va. Collegiate Women's Tournament singles crown, upsetting her teammate and #1 seed Mary Hotchkiss (Leavell) in the process.

Her post-collegiate tennis career has also been successful, winning the VA state women's singles title once, the doubles title four times, the 35-and-over doubles crown and the VA mixed doubles championship twice.  She has been ranked No. 1 in the state multiple times.  She and Hotchkiss Leavell also competed against former Wimbledon champion Chris Evert during her career.

Talbott earned a B.A. in Mathematics at Mary Baldwin and an MBA at Old Dominion University.  She was inducted into the Grafton Society in 2022.
