Hall of Fame
Kathryn Lee was the starting point guard, leading scorer and MVP for the Basketball team from 1972-1975.  She scored in double figures every game for three seasons and was named to the All State Team in 1974 and 1975 by the Virginia Federation for Intercollegiate Sports for College Women.  Kathryn helped lead the 1972-73 team to a #4 state ranking and their first appearance in the State Tournament, where they were defeated by the eventual State Champion, Old Dominion University. The 1972-73 team was also the only team in MBC history to defeat the University of Virginia.  Kathryn led the fencing team as the number one fencer in foil for three seasons and was ranked #2 fencer in the state of Virginia. Kathryn’s athletic career at Mary Baldwin was limited to three years as she graduated early in December of 1975.  She was awarded the White Blazer for outstanding athletic achievement in 1975.
As an advocate of media coverage for women in sport, Kate has produced programming for the Women’s Sports Foundation, the NCAA, ESPN, and the U.S. Olympic Committee.  Her audio podcast and accompanying book entitled, The Story of the 1976 U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team, won the 1999 Women’s Sports Foundation Journalism Award.  Kathryn designed the website for the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and is currently the producer for "Shootaround with Beth and Debbie", a national podcast devoted to women's basketball.
Kathryn is a Multimedia Courseware Developer at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.
