Cindy grew up around tennis.  Her dad was a teaching tennis professional.  She came to Mary Baldwin and was coached by Dr. Mary Jane Donnalley.  Cindy was a ranked tennis player in the Middle Atlantic Lawn Tennis Association and the Middle Atlantic Collegiate Lawn Tennis Association.  In 1962 she won the MAC tennis tournament singles championship and the MALTA title.  In 1963 she was runner up in the MAC doubles championship.  Cindy was one of eight members on the 1964 Junior Wightman Cup Squad of the US Lawn Tennis Association.  Nancy won the MALTA championship for a second time in 1965.  Also in 1965 she won the Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament with Nancy Falkenberg.  In 1966 Cindy and Nancy again won the MALTA Doubles Title.

Cindy has taught a total of 29 years with the Montgomery County Public Schools.  She has taught second, third and fifth grades and says she has loved spending each day with such wonderful children.  Cindy also took off 14 years from teaching to raise her children.  Cindy will retire from teaching this June. She hopes to be able to play more tennis for enjoyment and exercise after retiring.   Nancy is married to Dieter Willkomm.  They have three adult children, two daughters and a son.  They also have five grandchildren.  Cindy makes her home in Darnestown, Maryland.
