Claudia Woody competed on the basketball team for four years. She was the starting point guard and captain during her junior and senior years. Claudia also competed on the Equestrian team for two years. Claudia earned the Blazer Award her senior year as the Outstanding Athlete.
Claudia continued to be involved with athletics and basketball after graduating from MBC. She was the Assistant Coach to Pat Summitt from 1977-1979. She also was the Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Tennessee from 1979-1981. She also had the honor of being the assistant coach of the USA National Team in 1979, this team was a silver medalist at an International Tournament in Canada, but never competed in the Olympics because of the 1980 boycott.
Claudia also served a stint as Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Texas at Austin from 1981-1988. She directed two Women’s Basketball Final Fours including the 1987 Final Four which was the first sell-out for Women’s Basketball. Claudia also was the director of Olympic Results for 37 sports in 20 venues for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Claudia currently is Vice President and Managing Director for Intellectual Property Licensing for IBM. She resides in Austin, Texas.
