Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, NC - The Mary Baldwin College softball team lost two
games this afternoon at Greensboro College to complete their USA
South regular season play. The Pride won 8-6 and 4-0.
Greensboro started the day with five runs in the first inning to
take a commanding lead.
Mary Baldwin came back in the top of the third inning.
Amanda Miller singled into right field. LaToya Diggs
also followed with a single advancing Miller to second. Ginny
Griffin added another single advancing the two runners. With
the bases loaded, Courtney Clausi stepped to the plate.
Greensboro then turned a double play getting Clausi and
Griffin out. A wild pitch then advanced Diggs and Miller
scored. Freshman Jonquil Brown then singled to center field
bringing Diggs home. The Fighting Squirrels cut the lead 2-5.
The Pride picked up another run in the fifth inning to lead
6-2.
MBC rallied in the sixth inning to tie the score 6-6. Then
a sacrifice fly by Brittany Evans gave Greensboro the winning run
when she brought Brittany Teer home. Kanisha fogg also scored
giving Greensboro the 8-6 win.
Freshman Jonquil Brown went 2-4 with 2 RBI's for the Fighting
Squirrels while Amanda Miller finished 1-2 with 2 runs.
In the second game, MBC's bats went cold as the Pride finished
with 10 strike outs and 7 hits on their way to a 4-0 win.
Greensboro improves their record to 18-16 while Mary Baldwin
moves to 6-28. The Fighting Squirrels play Sweet Briar Monday
before finishing the season at home on Wednesday against Mary
Washington.
The USA South Conference tournament starts Friday, April 13 in
Burlington, NC.
