STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College softball team fell to Ferrum College this afternoon in a USA South doubleheader while honoring their only senior, pitcher Jessica Hogle.

The only score in the first four innings of the first game of the afternoon came in the 2nd inning.  Karly Thompson started the visitors out with a double to left center.  Suzanne Plasters then followed with a home run to left field.  The visitors added one more run when a double by Aiyana Lew drove Kaitlyn Culler home.

The Panthers added three more runs in the top of the 5th inning.

In the bottom of the 5th inning Mary Baldwin got on the scoreboard when Jonquil Brown singled up the middle.  After Jessica Hogle reached first due to an error, Rebecca Parramore hit a home run to right center field bringing the Fighting Squirrels to within three.

The 7th inning proved to be the difference as Ferrum scored 5 runs and held the home team scoreless taking the 11-3 USA South win.

In the final game of the afternoon, the Panthers slowly built their lead while great pitching held the home team scoreless.  Ferrum finished with six hits winning 4-0 in seven innings.
