Box Score 2 Fayetteville, NC - The Mary Baldwin College softball team fell
to Methodist University 0-8 in five innings in both games of a
double-header this afternoon.
After scoring one run in the second inning, the Monarchs broke
the first game open in the third inning when they hit seven singles
building a 8-0 lead and holding that lead for the remainder of the
game.
Mary Baldwin struggled offensively getting just 4 hits.
Lead-off batter Kayla Wheeler led Mary Baldwin with 2
hits.
The Fighting Squirrels improved defensively, finishing with no
errors.
The second game proved to be more of the same as the Monarchs
finished with 14 hits as they took a 5-0 lead in the second inning.
Kayla Wheeler pitched her first game of the season stepping
into that role for injured teammate Olivia Compton.
Jaliah Graves, Kristen Anderson, Morgan Tully, and Sarah Seekins
all got one hit in the final game of the afternoon.
Mary Baldwin College (0-12, 0-12 USAS) travel to Harrisonburg
Sunday for a non-conference matchup with Eastern Mennonite.
