Harrisonburg, VA - The Mary Baldwin College softball team lost a pair of games this afternoon to Eastern Mennonite in a non-conference matchup.  The Fighting Squirrels lost the first game 0-8 and the second 4-6 both in five innings.

In Game 1, Mary Baldwin continued to struggle offensively as they did on Saturday unable to get on the board.

Eastern Mennonite jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Angelia Miller singled bringing Brooke Hensley home.  Jordan Aylor then flied out to left field bringing Brooke Sigrist home with a sacrifice fly.  

The home team struck again in the bottom of the third inning earning 5 hits and adding 4 runs to their score.

The Royals added two more runs in the 5th inning when Casey Racer singled to bring Lauren Campbell home and Mariah Foltz doubled bringing Racer across the plate.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first two innings of Game 2.  Eastern Mennonite scored in the third inning on a wild pitch taking a 1-0 lead.  They added 5 runs in the 4th inning.

Mary Baldwin broke their offensive drought in the 5th inning when Jonquil Brown, Kristen Anderson, and Janie Brothers all singled to load the bases.  Morgan Tully then walked to score Brown.  Lindsey Shifflet stepped up and hit a double down the right field line to bring Brothers and Dominque Munn, who pinch ran for Anderson, home.  

The Royals then sent Cara Neikirk to the mound for Jordan Aylor.  

Kayla Wheeler added one more single for Mary Baldwin bringing home Shifflett but that was all the Fighting Squirrels could do finishing the inning with 4 runs, 5 hits, and 2 left on base.

The game ended in just five innings due to the weather giving Eastern Mennonite the final win 6-4.

Mary Baldwin College (0-12, 0-10 USAS) play their next game on Wednesday at Guilford College before returning home to face Randolph-Macon on Thursday.
