Box Score 2 STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College softball team dropped a
pair of games to William Peace University this afternoon. The
Pacers took the first game 9-0 and the second 20-4.
Peace took advantage of a Mary Baldwin error in the top of the
3rd inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Pacers then blew the game
open in the top of the 4th inning when Brandi Stamey hit a Grand
Slam with two outs to give Peace a 6-0 lead. Then, after
putting Gregorio on base after being hit by a pitch, Lindsey
Wiggins hit a home run giving the visitors a 9-0 lead.
Mary Baldwin struggled offensively getting 3 hits in the first
game.
In the second game, Kayla Wheeler a home run, her first of the
year, in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at 1-1.
Peace added two runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings.
The Fighting Squirrels then came back in the bottom of the 3rd
inning. Lindsey Shifflett started things off with a single to
left field. After two outs, Jonquil Brown doubled bringing
Shifflett home. Kristen Anderson then hit her second home run of
the weekend driving Brown home.
With the game 4-5, the Pacers again blew the game open scoring 9
runs in the top of the 4th inning and 6 runs in the top of the 5th
inning to take the twilight game.
Mary Baldwin finished with 9 hits led by Jonquil Brown, Kristen
Anderson, and Morgan Tully with two hits each.
Mary Baldwin College 2-18 (0-14 USAS) take on Bridgewater
College Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 PM.
