Box Score 2 STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College softball team dropped
their final two home games to Greensboro College this afternoon in
a USA South conference matchup.
The Pride jumped out to an early lead in Game 1 when Jackie
Nicholson hit a two run homer for the visitors setting the stage as
they rolled to a 10-0 win.
Greensboro had 20 hits and 10 RBI's in the first game.
Jackie Nicholson and Sarah Connolly each homered in the
opening game.
In the second game, Greensboro slowly built their lead scoring
one run in each of the first three innings.
Mary Baldwin finally got on the board in the bottom of the 5th
inning when Kayla Wheeler singled to right center field driving
home Olivia Compton.
In the next inning, Jonquil Brown started the home team off with
a single to left field. Kristen Anderson then advanced Brown
to third base when she doubled down the left field line.
After Paige Reed reached on a fielder's choice, Sarah Seekins
singled with a bunt loading the bases.
Mary Baldwin's final run came when Morgan Tully advanced the
runners scoring Brown.
After only one walk, it was three up and three down for both
Greensboro and Mary Baldwin in the 7th inning giving Greensboro the
8-2 win.
Mary Baldwin College (4-24, 1-19) will finish their season on
the road this weekend before returning to Virginia to play a final
game at Southern VA on Monday.
