Box Score 2 STAUNTON, VA - The Methodist University Monarchs improved their record to 8-10 today when they defeated Mary Baldwin College 10-0 in game 1 and 9--3 in game 2.
The Monarchs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back as they held Mary Baldwin to just three hits in the first game.
Methodist was led by Lindsay Tippett who finished with three hits and six RBI's.
In game 2, Mary Baldwin opened with a 3-1 lead after the first inning.
With Kayla Wheeler and Morgan Tully on base, Kristen Anderson doubled to left field bringing Wheeler home. Tully scored next when Jonquil Brown grounded out to second base. Mary Baldwin's final run came when Kate Dickinson reached on an error by left field scoring Anderson.
Methodist added a second run in the top of the second inning to trail by one run.
After both teams were held scoreless in the 3rd inning, Methodist took a commanding lead in the top of the 4th inning. After scoring two runs, Lindsey Tippett hit the ball to left field bringing in three runs to give the visitors and commanding 7-3 lead.
Methodist added one run in both the 5th and 7th innings to take the nightcap 9-3.
Mary Baldwin College 1-13 (1-9 USAS) host Averett University Sunday afternoon. The first game begins at noon.
