Box Score 2 RALEIGH, NC - The Mary Baldwin College softball team traveled to William Peace University today for a USA South double header and celebrated Military Appreciation Day.
The Pacers downed the Fighting Squirrels 8-0 in the first game and 12-3 in the second game.
Peace jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning. The home team was able to add one run in the 3rd inning and two in the 4th inning while holding Mary Baldwin scoreless to take the win easily in 5 innings.
Mary Baldwin struck first in the second game when Jonquil Brown singled up the middle to bring Kayla Wheeler home giving MBC a 1-0 start.
The Pacers' bats remained hot in the second game as they answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the first inning taking the lead 6-1.
In the 2nd inning, Lindsey Shifflett hit a home run to left field adding to MBC's score. Chrissy Cromer singled to center field to score Hannah Borgemenke as the team began to chip away at the Pacers' lead.
Peace added 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and 3 more in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take the second game 12-3 in five innings.
Lindsey Shifflett and Chrissy Cromer finished the game with 2 hits and 1 RBI each.
Mary Baldwin College 3-19 (1-13 USAS) continue the season hosting Maine-Presque Isle Tuesday afternoon.
