STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College softball team easily defeated Notre Dame (Md.) this afternoon in a non-conference double header.  The Fighting Squirrels took the first game 10-1 and the second 13-5.  Both games took just five innings.

The Fighting Squirrels jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Montana Welcher singled to left field driving home Morgan Tully and Kayla Wheeler.

Mary Baldwin added six runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning.  Kayla Wheeler started the team off with a double to center field.  Morgan Tully then followed with a single to left field scoring Wheeler.  Later, Pattie Pleasants doubled to left center earning two RBI's when Montana Welcher and Morgan Tully crossed home plate.  Chrissy Cromer and Kate Dickinson also added a single each as Mary Baldwin finished the inning with 6 runs and 6 hits.

Mary Baldwin added 2 final runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to post the 10-1 win in just five innings.

In game 2, Mary Baldwin jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and rolled to a 13-5 win. 

Kayla Wheeler went 4 for 4 with 5 RBI's while Chrissy Cromer went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's in the second game.  Montana Welcher matched Cromer's effort also going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's.

Janie Brothers pitched the first game for the Fighting Squirrels and the final inning in game 2.  Brothers gave up just 3 hits in game one and 1 in game 2.  Kate Dickinson started in game 2 and tallied 6 hits.
