Box Score 2 Ferrum, VA - The Mary Baldwin softball team fell to Ferrum College this afternoon in a USA South double header. The Panthers took the first game 14-1 and the second 8-0. Both games ended in five innings.
In the first game, Ferrum jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and added one run in the second. The Panthers then took advantage of Mary Baldwin errors in the bottom of the third inning to score 10 runs and take a 14-0 lead.
Mary Baldwin answered in the top of the fourth inning when Morgan Tully singled down the right field line driving home Sarah Seekins who had singled to center field. But, the Panthers were able to slow the rallying Squirrels and take the 14-1 win.
In the final game, Ferrum held a 3-0 lead after three innings then scored 5 runs off of 6 hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to post the 8-0 win.
Mary Baldwin College 8-20 (0-12 USAS) continue play on Wednesday at home when they host Maine-Presque Isle in a non-conference matchup.
