Softball Travels to North Carolina

Raleigh, NC - The Mary Baldwin University softball team traveled to Raleigh, NC to take on William Peace University in a USA South matchup.

In the first game, Chrissy Cromer drove home Dana Cromer in the top of the 5th inning for Mary Baldwin's only score as the home team took the game in six innings 9-1.

In the second game, Mary Baldwin jumped out to a 2-0 early lead when Sam Bird homered driving Montana Welcher home.  Peace answered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 2-2.

The home team added 5 runs in the bottom of the second inning off of 6 hits including a home run by Lindsey Wiggins. 

Chrissy Cromer scored in the top of the third after hitting a single to center field.

After a quiet 4th inning, Mary Baldwin scored again when Sam Bird hit another home run again driving home Montana Welcher.

Peace added two runs in the bottom of the inning, then ended the game when they scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 15-5 win.  Four of those runs came when Lindsey Wiggins finished the day with a grand slam home run. 

Sam Bird tallied 3 hits, 2 runs and 4 RBI's in the second game while Welcher added 2 runs and 2 hits and Chrissy Cromer finished with 1 run and 1 hit.

Mary Baldwin University, 0-6 (0-4 USAS), continue play on Saturday at Greensboro College.
