Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin University softball team celebrated Senior Day this afternoon and hosted Covenant College in a USA South conference doubleheader.

In the first game, Covenant College defeated Mary Baldwin 7-5.

After three innings, the teams were tied 2-2.  Mary Baldwin scored when Jordan Miller singled driving Montana Welcher home in the 2nd inning then added a second run when Alli Bascunan drove Sam Bird home in the 3rd.

The Scots added two runs in the 6th inning to go up 4-2.  In the top of the 7th inning the visitors added three runs.

With their final at-bat, Mary Baldwin began chipping away at the lead.  With the bases loaded, Jordan Miller singled to left field scoring one run.  A wild pitch scored a second run for the Fighting Squirrels and a passed ball added a third run.

Covenant was then able to stop Mary Baldwin's run and hold onto the 7-5 win.

The second game proved to be defensive struggle as both teams were held scoreless through 4 innings.  Covenant was finally able to get on the board in the 5th inning with two runs and add one more in the 6th inning to take the 3-0 win.

Mary Baldwin honored seniors Morgan Tully and Kristen Anderson.  Both plan to go into teaching.
