Box Score 2 RALEIGH, NC – The Mary Baldwin softball team dropped both games in a conference doubleheader against William Peace University, losing the first game 6-1 and the second game 11-2 (5 Inn.) on Sunday afternoon.
The Fighting Squirrels move to 4-20 overall, while the Pacers improve to 11-13 on the season.
In Game 1, Mary Baldwin was led by Lindsay Simmons and Sam Breeden. Simmons went 2 for 3 and scored the only run for Mary Baldwin and Breeden went 1 for 3 with one RBI.
The Pacers trailed for most of the game, scoring three runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to win 6-1. The Pacers were led by Candice Smith who went 2 for 4 with four RBI and one run scored. Kelsey Durham and Taylor Bryd each added a pair of hits and combined to score three runs.
In Game 2, Mary Baldwin was led by Jordan Miller and Alexis Clark, Miller went 2 for 3 at the plate and Clark had the only RBI for the Fighting Squirrels.
The Pacers combined for 15 hits, scoring 11 runs, to finish the game in five innings. The Pacers were led by Smith who added three more hits in game two, giving her five hits on the day and a total of five RBI. Kristina Mojica went 3 for 4 scoring three runs and adding three RBI in the nightcap.
Mary Baldwin will return to action on April 3, when it travels to Wilson College for a doubleheader set to begin at 3pm.
