Box Score 2 The Mary Baldwin softball team lost a pair of tough games Tuesday afternoon to Greensboro, dropping the opener 3-1 and the second game 6-1.
The Fighting Squirrels took the lead in the opener with a run in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs, Leanna Rankin jept the inning alive with a single and Allison Crum added a base hit to put two runners on base. Emily Hall then doubled, scoring Rankin for a 1-0 lead.
Greensboro answered with two runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead and later added an insurance run in the seventh to finish off the 3-1 victory.
Tankin led the Squirrels with two hits in the opener.
The Fighting Squirrels scored first in the second game when Lacey Morris led off the bottom of the second with a solo homer. The Pride grabbed the lead with two runs in the fourth inning and then put the game away with four runs in the top of the seventh.
Morris and Hadley May each finished with two hits in Game 2.
