Box Score Mary Baldwin first-year infielder Trinity Thomas was named the USA South Athletic Conference Softball Rookie of the Year and teammates Hadley May and Allison Crum earned first-team honors on the all-conference team released Thursday afternoon.
Thomas, who was also named to the all-conference second team at second base, hit for a .323 aerage in 33 games during her first season with the Squirrels. She finished with three doubles and nine RBIs. Thomas was 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts and finished the season with a .949 fielding percentage. Thomas was at her best in conference games, hitting for a .351 average.
May earned a spot othe first-team as an at-large selection. The MBU catcher ranked among the conference leaders in several offensive categories. She was first overall with a.802 slugging percentage and tied for the conference lead in homers with nine. She ranked fifth in hitting with a .385 average, fourth in doubles with 11 and seventh in RBIs with 31.
Crum took one of the three outfield spots on the first team with a .375 batting average, the eighth highest mark in the conference. She ranked No. 5 in the conference with 10 doubles and her 28 RBIs ranked No. 10.
